Meccano even continued their production even during the first world war. Hornby has also introduced a new lineup of model train products which had clockwork motors imported from a German company named Marklin which in addition has the approved right to manufacture products of Hornby. Only during World War II did manufacturing of Hornby model trains halted. After the second world war, they resumed their production but production of model trains under the Meccano brand name ceased.
Hornby introduced 100-250 volts electric-powered model trains in 1925 which was later downplayed to 6 volts DC to make it more safer. In the 1930s, model trains in the form of 00 scale with a 12 volt DC motor was made available to consumers and is now the most well-liked kind of scale in the United Kingdom.
The two chief models of railroading made by Hornby Railways are the Skaledale and Lyddle End. Although both have similarities when it comes to accessories, the Lyddle End has a scale of 1:76 which is a little bigger than the Skaledale.
